Etymological Thoughts

I'm sure you'll get it...

I love words. Maybe that is why I am enjoying this blogging thing so much.

A lesson in etymology (the study of the origin of words and how their meanings have changed over time):

The word: testimony. Kinda sounds like testicle, huh? Yup. It does. Especially now that I pointed it out. So back in the day when the Caesars and Caligula were lounging back in their gladiator sandals ( which have made a strange comeback in recent days) and all up on their own jock for having a kick ass road system people use to take oaths. Nowadays we put our right hand on a Bible and swear an oath to a higher being… but Ancient Rome was pre-bible. So what did they take oaths on you may ask. Yup you guessed it. Their testicles. Men would place their right hand on their testicles and swear an oath to… who knows.

Therefore our present day “testimony” is a ball grab remix.
